In 2024, there are nine quiz rounds:

  • Six on-screen questions rounds
  • One picture round
  • One audio round
  • One gamified geography round (somewhat new style).

At the start of the quiz game, the Quizmaster announces the themes for each on-screen question round, which consists of six questions per round. Each question is displayed once for 40 seconds and is read out once by the Quizmaster. At the end of each round, players get an extra minute to finalise their answers and submit their answer sheet to the scorers.  In these rounds, you earn two points for every correct answer, while incorrect answers yield no points.

For these six rounds, your team gets six answer sheets from the start.

In the case of on-screen question rounds only, you can earn extra points the more you accumulate correct answers in a single round. This means that apart from the two points for every correct answer, you get extra points when the number of correct answers reaches a certain thresholds as shown in the table below:

Correct answersExtra pointsFinal score
three or lessnone0 to 6
four1 point9
five2 points12
six3 points15

The scorers’ MS Excel Workbook calculates the extra points automatically.

The picture round has 30 questions, while the audio round has 20 questions. The Quizmaster shall announce the themes for both rounds at their turn. Like all other question rounds, the questions are timed.

Picture round questions consist of a numbered picture displayed for ten seconds.

Audio round questions consists of extracts of songs with varying time lengths. Each track is numbered and has sub-titles to help you guess the right answer.

In these rounds, you earn two points for every correct answer, while incorrect answers yield no points.

For each of these rounds, your team gets a dedicated answer sheet at the turn of each respective round.

The geography round is gamified, which means it is presented in the form of a story where the Gozo Quiz players are protagonists.

The players, acting as detectives, need to identify a location from a set of hints and clues. There are ten locations in total.

The entire game is a run against the clock and once it starts, it cannot be paused.

For every location, you receive a set of raw hints followed by a set of elaborate clues.

If you have what it takes to identify the location in the hints time window (40 to 60 seconds), you score five points for every correct answer, given that such answer gets to the Quizmaster within that time window.

When the hints time window elapses, you receive a series of more elaborate clues, with a reference to the hints revealed earlier. Clues consist of sub-titled audio-visual material. With the knowledge of hints and clues combined, it should be easier for you to guess the mystery location. A correct answer submitted at this stage yields only two points. In any case, incorrect answers yield no points.

More instructions on how to play this round are presented on screen before the actual chase starts.

Your team gets ten location postcards on whichto submit your answers.Make sure you have ten cards before the game starts!

For every single answer sheet your team receives, make sure to:

  • write down your team name;
  • depending on the type of round indicate the number of either the round, the track, the image or the location;
  • write your answer/s.

Write clearly in capital letters. The answer sheets’ layout is clear and self-explanatory. Ask the Quizmaster in case of doubt. Additional blank sheets of paper are available for use as rough work, especially for the on-screen question rounds. These sheets are inadmissible for scoring.
